I have a downspout that connects to a drain as shown in the images below, the downspout was misaligned and the water was running down the face of the house and into the basement. I was going to dig it out and re pack it in gravel and realign the spout but it's started to crack and break and will have to be replaced. Problem is, I don't even know what it's called to find a replacement.

I need three things if anyone can help me:

1) What should I be looking for? I assume there's a specific name for this?
2) Assuming the new item is PVC how do I connect it to what will probably be older, concrete pipes?
3) Is there a simpler way of doing this? can I just fit a bigger standard drain and let the downspout flow into it with an angled head at the base?

Many thanks.

It's called a back inlet gulley. Just be careful to get the correct one. There are different configurations with different inlets and outlets.

Thanks Jeds, do you mean different diameters of inlets or different positions?
