What is this pump doing?

it's keeping hot water circulating between the taps and the store. It's really designed for use if your taps are far away from the store and you're on a meter so you don't waste too much water. Should be on a timer to coincide with peak usage time.

Cool thanks for that, kitchen is some distance from store but not miles, so presumably put in for that reason, thanks for prompt reply

From what I can work out it is pumping cold water into the hot water cylinder and thats it, why bother when the inlet is mains pressure?

Confused

Are you sure? I know some old foamed cylinders are designed for mains inlet (unvented) but there aren't that many around, could we possibly have a few more pictures of this installation please

muggles he isnt sure thats why he put "confused" at the bottom, and someone else answered his post with the right answer

Hmm well one of us has misunderstood here. I took his post to mean that his cylinder has a mains inlet anyway, and that the pump was a seperate issue that was confusing him, IE why pump water in when it has a mains inlet [somewhere else on the cylinder]
