I am almost done putting in a slate floor in my kitchen. I figured out by the end a couple of things I wish I'd figurd out earlier. If they are of use to anyone, wonderful.
1) When screwing cement board down, start from the center so it doesn't lift up with the drilling.
2) Seal slate before it even gets put on the floor (learned that the hard way)
3) Do minimal cleanup of grout til the next day, otherwise it all pulls out of the seams. I go over each line onece or twice with the sponge, then leave the mess.
4) When cleaning grout the next day, put your sponge down on a still dirty tile, not one you just cleaned!
5) Measure twice, cut once... But you knew that.
cheers!
