And before you close that all up... just check to see how much a replacement thermostatic cartridge is for that valve... and if you can even get one - especially in 5 years time! You might get a bit of a shock!

Well spotted the valve is an electronic one just under the tap connector at the bottom left of the picture.

Yes I share your concerns but I bought a well known brand and hope for the best! Luckily it can all be accessed from the other side of the partition if worst comes to worst.

Yes but may be worth finding a nut that you can screw on first, before cutting, and then use that nut to clear the entry to the threads by unscrewing it off!
