what sand to use over harcore before screed ?

Silly question I know but do i have to get a specific type of sand, builders , sharp etc. to cover the harcore in extension before the dpm goes on and slab is laid.

Anything that has no particles significant enough to puncture the dpm. Don't forget both the hardcore and the sand need whackering..

Thanks yes have borrowed a whacker plate ; I guess as no particles building sand is best ?
