if it's a flat can we assume that the meters are all in a central location on the ground floor etc?

how far is the meter from the board?

if you can't work it out dased on design current and length of run the should you really be doing the work since you don't sound competent...

Give as a f-king clue.

You want us to size a cable, but fail to mention any proposed loading, cutout sizes, number of phases or length of runs etc.

It really is like asking how long is a peice of string.

according to Descarte a 'piece' of string is the distance from the north pole to the south pole of a spheroid whose radius is equal to PI

C = 2PIr r= PI

Therefore piece of string is PI squared

Unfortunately Descarte failed to indicate what unit PI was!!!

Hence 'How long is a Piece of String'

Thank christ I was awake and sober for that Lecture at Uni!!! :D

Never came up in the exams thou

Still Desmond does for me:cool:

well the board will be under the stairs

the main head is at the front of the flat with the meter and isolator

distance about 8 metres

the load.... well 1 ring, 1 kitchen ring, 1 lighting circuit, 1 cooker

You calculate the maximum demand

You apply diversity

you have an answer of I amps

now knowing, the cable length, type and installation method volt drop etc etc etc you look up the relavent table in the Eire equivalent of BS7671 and select a cable csa accordingly.

"Cooker".

Baby Belling or a 1.2m wide triple-oven 7-hotplate range cooker?

The fact that you don't seem to understand the questions, and still haven't answered all of them makes me think that you have nowhere near enough competence to be going anywhere near this job.

Please get a competent electrician before something bad happens.
