Hi all, I'm having a go at some diy plumbing, and research as much as I thought to get the job done.

My problem is I have purchased a new P trap which is 32mm.
My waste pipe is however not 32mm or 40mm.

It seems to be about 35mm or 36mm.

I have cut out most of the old pipe, just have about 12inches of this 35/36mm grey waste pipe for for my sink sticking up out of the concrete.

I have purchased some 40mm pipe to connect from my P-trap but cannot find a connector from 35mm/36mm to my 40mm pipe.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Gary

If you can't replace the pipe by chipping away at the concrete (which is the best option as it may be partially blocked) then explain to your local plumbers merchant and he will sort you a compression fitting that will do the job.

Photo shows compression waste fitting- this is what you need. Forget about replacing the pipe. Waste of effort.

Thanks guys, I found out what the problem is.
The pipe is 32mm on the inside but 35mm on the outside so the material is quite thick.

I have a push fit 32mm straight coupler but it will not go over the pipe.

Will I have more luck with the compression fitting ?

Thanks
