I need to insert a lintel above windows that have been replaced with UPVC in the early 80's. The house was built in the 20's and have a line of upright bricks above each window. Those bricks are only supported by a metal bar that was probably put in place to hold the brick up whilst the mortar set when the house was originally built.

Is there a lintel that i can buy that is designed to allow the row of upright bricks to be replaced after fitting the lintel to keep the appearance the same?

Thanks in advance.

If you just need to replace the external brickwork. I would use a leaf lintel
( L-shaped) easily available at builders merchants.
