The front of my house was built in the 60's with crittal metal framed windows. 8' wide for the bedroom and lounge. No lintels were used. Shoulder bricks were set above the windows. Subsequent fitting of windows has disturbed the shoulder bricks. I want to replace the windows but would like a proper lintel fitted to support the shoulder bricks. I know that this will entail rebuilding the front of the house. The question is what shaped lintel can be bought for this job?. Can one be modified to fit only the outer wall ?. Thanks for help.

An 'L" shaped lintel for single walls is what you want. No modification necessary
