We're slowly restoring our fireplace so it's bare brick! What do you lot think is best to plug the gap around the fireplace from where we removed the original breast plaster? Will bonding coat do the job?

Cheers!

You might want to run a knife down the edge of the gap to cut back any lipping from the old plaster return.
Use just about any kind of plaster as a filler - you can buy small bags of repair powder.
Take up the suction & do it in two "coats".

Dig out any loose plaster etc, apply 3:1 water PVA to stop any suction, and use Gyproc one coat plaster.
