What type of cable is this, used for? Flat with blue sheath

I have finally found a length of cable that came with a load of junk 25-30 years ago, which I have been longing to post on here for a long time.

In photos Cable and Cable Close Up it's appearance is identical to flat Twin and Earth, although the sheath colour is dark bluish/dark greenish`is made of PVC (well some form of 'plastic' anyway, although it has started to crack slightly in places).

It is more flexible than Twin and Earth and contains Brown, Black and Blue conductors, all of a uniform size.

The strands, consisting of many, appear to be slightly blackish in colour.

The sheathing on the inner side is brighter than the outer side.

NB: I don't intend to use it for anything (probably wouldn't have a use for it anyway) but would like to know what it's/would have been, used for.

Odd looking stuff- if it was 2 core I'd think it was festoon cable but never met 3 core festoon so that's out. Is the inner insulation very soft (so soft you can strip it with your fingernails)- if so it might be silicon insulation (used in high temperature applications).

I wouldn't have thought it was 'VERY VERY' old, since it is PVC (well 'plastic') sheathed, and T&E was available in TRS, red and black live conductors and bare CPC.

I certainly couldn't strip it with my fingernails, I used an electricians knife (CK) to strip the outer sheath, and a normal wire stripper to strip the insulation, which itself is PVC/plastic.

I did initially, well still do really, it being some form of commercial/industrial cable.

It’s very strange! It doesn’t look like install cable as it’s fine stranded cores, and is the wrong core colours to be some sort of appliance flex.

I guess it’s either foreign or off some specialised piece of kit

Spose it could be aviation or maritime, wonder if it is low smoke & fume type insulation?

It might be the type of cable used in lifts. The cables that are suspended in loops below the moving cabin have to be flat and very flexible.

Similar thoughts, but possibly travelling crane?, although three core would be unusual in those colours
