That was early in the career of David Jason, before porridge about he played a bungling cop.[/url]

Although I think he was a spy not a cop.....

Maybe I've got the wrong one...

Thanks Secure, we're not sure, the character was like Clouseau, married, and was a scene of a lawnmower running through the house...

Sounds more like a scene from Porterhouse Blue.

Porridge, he was never in that was he?

Yes. Played an old lag called Blanco who had been sent down for killing his wife after catching her playing away with the lodger. Fletcher and the gang worked to get him a pardon and on his release he let it slip that he had killed the lodger.

He was a spark!!

Wonder if I can have his copy of the regs?

Securespark has it right. Briggs by name but Clouseau by nature, he played a totally inept spy-catcher who somehow managed to get the right results for all the wrong reasons. (More recently, he played a very similar role in The Royal Bodyguard.)

I don't remember any lawnmower scene but, if we're talking about the same series, he wasn't married:

"Why don't you go home? Your wife will be wondering where you are."

"I'm not married."

"How do you know. You haven't been home to find out!"

Classic!

Thanks to all who replied, this has come about due to the CD's being given as prezzies, I wasn't in the UK at the time and never saw the series, my sister in law wants it for her son, he's got Dads Army, Open All Hours, Slack Bladder, Faulty Towers etc etc and she's been looking for this series and can't remember the name, only odd clips..once again thank you all...
