What type of wood is this table made from?

Also how would I achieve the same high gloss finish (materials, process and tools)?

Thanks

Oak, Hevea (Rubberwood) Pine coloured in honey oak, unsteamed beech?

If you have a picture showing the grain you might get a better answer, now we are all guessing.

Dunno, but it looks like its on a boat, not many lounges have steering wheels

Sorry I don't have a picture of the grain.

I can use any wood to my liking but I don't have a clue how to get that finish

Sand any wood properly. If you want to lacquer it (giving the most shiny finish) last sanding must be with abresive 140 grit.

A good rub down with 140 grit then lacquer. :thumb:

Would you recommend polishing the lacquer with a polishing mop?

Sorry Ray, here ends my knowledge I'm afraid.
We do floors and mostly with oil finish (don't like shiny surfaces).

BTW, not just rub down with 140, sand it properly first with 60 or 80, then with 120 to get the surface as smooth as possible, THEN last sanding with 140.

My guess is also Beech, are you aware what the beech grain look like close up?

Sealine (Boat manufactures) claim the surrounding wood is made from cherry.

I don;t know if the table looks like cherry as I don't have a clue

Is also possible. As long as you get the wood you like

(oops, no pun intended)
