Not really, no. The Farage/Brexit small boats problem is an Anglo-French issue. The UK simply benefitted from EU membership in that respect.

No. It's a poor meaningless comparison. The EU don't have the same mechanism to send them back like we had (with France) when we were membrers of the EU.
