How does a lead lok fitting seal onto the lead pipe ?
My son's having the lead mains replaced but we want to move the stop cock so may need to undo a lead lok that's already there, in preparation for the change-over.

Just need to know what we'll find if we undo the lead lok fitting - is there some sort of soft olive in there ?
Thanks

One I looked at had a hardish rubber olive on the lead side.
Turning the nut pushed the olive into tapered recess and compressed inside diameter on outside diameter of pipe.

Depends on make of lead-loc , but usually an O ring followed by abacking ring and then abrass grab/locking ring.

Keith.

A lead loc uses a washer, which just fits over the pipe, and "flips over" when you do it up, so it digs into the lead. This does NOT come off when you undo it.
The actual seal is an O ring.

Cheers - I think we'll work on the copper side and leave the lead alone !
