What's the best mastic for sealing floorboards...

More specifically the gaps between the boards (non t&G) which vary from about 1mm to 4mm. They are newly sanded.
 
I find the best way is to use a circular saw to cut thin strips of varying width from a similar floorboard. Glue them in with PVA and then sand them back with a belt sander.
 
That's good for the bigger gaps Joe, but the smaller ones would be tricky to cut thin enough - well for me anyway!
 
Try a frame sealant then. It is an acrylic that comes in varying shades.
 
Is acrylic better than silicone? - it will be applied after floor finish is applied.
 
Better off applying acrylic before you finish the floor.
