What's the cheapest way to have garage roof repaired/replaced.

I have recently bought a house with a detached single garage about 22' x 11'.

The garage is brick built and has a cedar shingles roof. Ivy and other plants have been allowed to grow over and through the roof so it is now in a sorry state. It is no longer watertight and has several holes in it.

The roof timbers or trusses seem to be in reasonable condition.

I don't intend to keep the garage for more than about 5 years as I have other plans for that space in the long term, but cash is tight at the moment so I'm wondering what the cheapest approach is to getting a weatherproof garage roof.

Whatever I do I don't plan to do this DIY, I will get someone in to do it, although I might remove the remaining ivy and shingles myself.

I don't know what my options are for replacing the roof covering and don't want to waste contractors time getting lots of different quotes.

I have a load of clay rosemary tiles left from reroofing my house so one option could be to get someone to use them on the garage but I guess they may be too heavy for the existing roof timbers?

Or I could get it boarded and felted, replace the cedar shingles, use corrugated sheets or would it be cheaper to have the reoof replaced with a flat roof?

Are there other options, which is my cheapest option.

Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.

I've had a sheet of black DPM over a building for more than 5 years. . That was cheap.
