This might be a long shot... but I thought I'd try asking anyway... just incase someone had an answer!

I need some flat nylon string - it's for a blind, the string is about 8mm wide

The existing one has been some how mangled and I had to take off the holder and string
I took this to a blind shop and they said they'd never ever seen anything like it!
All I need is just some flat string (which I think is nylon) - I can attach to existing holder

Am I making any sense?

Where can I buy from?
I *only* need 1 - 2m!

Thanks

wont be string as string is round so its going to have a fancy name like braided ribbon or woven cord or some similar name

yes, ur right ofcourse!
thats the main problem: not knowing what the damn thing is called!
i'm sure there are zillions of places to buy - i just don't know what to search for

thanks

thanks for the replies guys - i knew i'd get some helpful replies
none of the above suggested are any good
it's definitely not paracord - that's too thick

though i started searching for ribbons after seeing something that resembled what i wanted in one of the given links... so i had a look on ebay

have a look at the following:

this looks *exactly* like what i need
i'll order this and see if it works - i'll order after xmas though - no use ordering now

before then... if anyone can think of the exact name of the item i need, please let me know!!

thanks

happy xmas and new year to u all!

aah... ok
i though we might be getting somewhere
did a search on ebay - nothing for 8mm
and only 77 results for 'woven tape' - one seller selling 5m for £10
i'm not sure if this is the one in that case
there's nothing extra special about the string (or should i say tape)

did a search on google - nothing that looks relevant - just need a measeley 2m!

found this image:

this definitely is not what i need
what i need is almost paper thin - but very strong
i'm pretty sure it's nylon or similar artificial material

search still goes on

thanks all the same

Is there a local 'rag' market near you. If so, buy a piece of material similar to what you want and cut a piece of 'tape' from it.
Just make sure you can cut it without the ends/sides becoming ragged.

redherring, i was thinking of going to a materials shop or a sewing shop
i'll do as u say and take a sample in

thanks for the reply
