Where to run waste in this pic?

That sounds like a plan. Just one thing though: To get to pipe 1, your new drain will have to cross pipe 2. Have you checked the depths? :?: :?: :?:

Actually I was going to cross it above ground (with the stub directly on top of where pipe 1 currently ends). But I could now in theory remove pipe 2 if I needed to - it's been blocked & covered in paving for over 30 years
 
I'd remove pipe 2, it doesnt serve a purpose, but be very careful as not to disturb the junction where it joins the live drain. Be wise to seal it off with a decent lump of concrete whilst you have it exposed, it'll ensure rats dont decide to use it as an escape route at any point in the future.....
