I have a small number of foil backed glass tiles to put up round a cloakroom sink. I've read that I need to use a solvent free product so that it doesn't discolour/react with the foil backing. Can I use mirror adhesive or should I use a specialist product? Can anyone suggest a product and whether I should use the blob or spread method (apologies if the terminology is wrong ☺)

Oh dear... right.

You will want a flexible, WHITE, powder based adhesive. You should never dot and dab (blobbing it) as it's honestly, a **** method for cowboys who don't know what they are doing. Always spread it. You want at least 90% coverage on the back of the tile. Have no idea why people are telling you about solvents, tile adhesive is manufactured with Portland Cement & polymers. Ready mix is made with PC & acrylic usually. When it comes to grouting get something that is extremely smooth (Micromax2 is a dream to work with) and not cheap, gritty stuff. Cheap gritty stuff will scratch your tiles to hell and back. Mirror adhesive? No. It's a tile, follow the instructions for glass tiles from a manufacturer, not google and definitely not BnQ/Wickes etc.

I used BAL Micromax2 in our kitchen, very nice to work with!.

Thank you both for your help. I will have a look round for the BAL Micromax2 then. Don't suppose you have any left Keithmac?:rolleyes:I only need enough for 12 small oblong tiles adhesive will probably cost more than the tiles....

Topps Tiles retail it (£17.99 for 2.5kg) but the store may have split bags out the back (be nice and it works wonders :) ) or you can pick it up online. Be careful online however as some places want extortionate rates for shipping!
