We've just moved to a new house(4bed detached) and in the process of changing the boiler for a combi and getting rid of the hot water tank (thru the boiler scrappage scheme).
Three plumbers have given us a quote, and we're a bit confused as they have suggested different things!!
Could anyone help?
Firstly, the boiler. Which is better?: Gloworm 38cxi combi or Baxi Duotec 38HE combi (does this one exist? should it be 40HE?)
Secondly the radiators/thermostats: At the moment we have 12 Radiators all with thermostats, and a room thermo in the lounge. One plumber said to keep them as they are, but another has said that we only need thermostats upstairs.
Thirdly, Timers. which is best to have? Mechanical clock, Electric timer or RF remote clock?
Finally, one plumber has suggested a having a filter installed near the boiler. ?????
Anyone give advice?

4 bed detached house and a combi, how many bathrooms do you have and did any of the plumbers check the pressure and flow rate of your mains water ?

We have three bathrooms (Main, ensuite and a smaller one near front door). Not sure if the all plumbers checked the water flow/pressure althought I remember one opening a tap and saying it was 15......something...........
