Which Boiler?

OP, a modern un-vented cylinder such as the unistor only needs the PTRV and PRV checked once a year. Can be done at same time as boiler service. Probably no more than a tenner extra.

The new 440 highflow is a very good boiler and if you have been happy with the performance of the old one then whats the problem?

Considering the cost of a new 440 and that this figure include vAT I think it is quite reasonable, but make sure it includes a proper powerflush and all system controls being brought up to current standards.

You are supposed to check that all safety controls work. That takes time and if anyone is asking a tenner he is not doing it properly.

Stick to you're googling and theory t w a t. Op whats advice from installers like us out there in the real world doing a proper job, not a bookworm with letters after his name who spends all his time on google to post on here

thnaks for that. The price does include VAT but not the powerflush which will cost extra around £400- £500. I am not sure which controls will be installed - is it reasonable to expect new timer for that money? Last, please can you recommend a good timer.

You are a danger to the public, not knowing how to service an unvented cylinder.

It is impossible to say without knowing how the installer hs quoted. I always replace timers/programmers when installaing a new boiler.

I think that the price you have been told for a powerflush is a bit ott, especially as it will be done during the same visit
