I live in the Lostwithiel, cornwall and am having the cottage rewired,
I would like to find out if a delay trip is required in this area for over head supply? RCB's? My electrician is a family member coming dowm from outside the area so he wants me to find out prior to him arriving.

Any help most welcome..
thanks
Andy

if he is suitably qualified he should know.

tell us what sort of earthing your home has

post some pictures for us, showing the meter, incoming supply, consumer unit and the various cables between them

look for any signs of an earth wire going to a spike in the ground and photograph that too.

you will need to notify your local council building control office. ask for their leaflet on Electrical Installations

Just because the supply is overhead does not mean it is TT. It can very easily be TN-S or TN-C-S, and could most likely be converted if it is not already.

Take a photo of your service head/meter area and post it here.
