ive moved into a house and the main fuse box hasnt got what each fuse is for written on them, i've managed to find out what all but 1 are doing thanks to trial and error, i.e having lights on and removing fuses to find out which one controls that, is there any way i can find out what, if anything this mystery fuse is doing?

well opening up the fusebox would tell you if it was connected to a cable at all but old fuseboxes can be pretty damn horrid inside.

what rating is it? an immersion heater springs to mind as a possibility as its osmethign you wouldn't notice if it was off for a few minuites.

What rating is it ? (that will give us a clue), what have you identified to date and what is actually in the house that doesn't (or shouldn't) come off any of those fuses ?

The silly answer is to take it out, and see if you notice in the next few days that there is now no power in the garage or the water is cold or something. Obviously check all fridges and freezers as soon as you have pulled it out, not in 3 days time!

It may well feed something that is now not used like a heater long removed, or an outbuilding now demolished.
5A white spots would be lights
15A blue spots would be heater or old round pin sockets, possibly made into a radial
30A red spots, ring main or cooker, or shower.

Give us a list of what you have that is electrical and we can probably guess a bit better.
Dont forget that it is not unknown for old radials feeding heaters to be
made into ne 13A sockets as part of 'modernisation'
Also work in reverse, what is there that is not on any of the other fuses you have identified?

cheers guys, it was feeding an emmersion heater that is nolonger in use
