Which is correct? Is this an Americanism?

In English English, the question would have been "Have you got a car?" to which the answer is, of course, "Yes, I have."

(or, indeed, "No, I haven't.")

The question "Do you have a car?" is an American question. You have been watching too many foreign films and picked up the argot.

Yes. That makes perfect sense.

Q: "Do you have a car?"

A: "Yes, I do." or "Yes, I have"?

Good old selection there vokera80e, bet you wish you still had some of them now, especially the BSA.. would that be a V twin?

Just one that confuses me, Thames Trader van?

The Ford Thames Traders were lorries.

The Ford Thames were the lighter vehicles (Transit or Escort van size)

Have a look at some of these old beauties, which model was yours?
http://ccmv.fotopic.net/c855983.html

I believe the first "Thames" model was the E83W

Sorry to be a pedantic anorak, but I like old vehicles.

Gee wizz...Mr brown i never even bothered to look for my oldies,But the van is in there with that lot.the green escort type.Somewhere on the documentation was the mention of trader, either the reciept or log book...and as for the bike it was definetley a side valve with single exhaust, may of got the cc wrong.(me that is) i bought it off the bike repair shop..it had a rully attatched for bringing dead bikes back to his shop.i took that off and put a sidecar on..Looked abit like arthur (on the buses) carting olive about :D ..

and i allways remember the sound of vans engine,it had a distinctive hissing sound from the carb...and that was all for the grand price of £14-19shillings and five pence...

i think i payed about £8-10shillings for the bike...
if we only knew..
