hi, i have a 1994-m-reg escort / my rear fog lights have stopped working [ bulbs ok ] the dashboard switch does power up, and light up ] also voltage comes out of it when its switched on.
so i suspect the relay , does anyone know which one it is ? as the ford handbook i have just says .-fog lights ?relay no R15 [ white ] but the only white one on board is in another number. and also checks out ok/ . [ and yes they did use to work and fuse is ok./ regards, r.r.

It is (if it exists) on the central junction box somewhere, iirc the fuse box under the drivers kick panel pulls down to reveal the relays. If the info I have is correct the supply from the switch should enter the central jb on loom C901b pin 6 (Grey+Yellow) and the supply out to the foglight on C905a pin 1 (Grey+Yellow). As daft as it sounds, there might not even be a relay for a single foglight version, this info is sketchy at best. I have seen the switches play up before too.
P.S. have you checked the lamp + holder? Fords were notorious for bad earths.

My first car's headlight switch was on the stalk, as you turned it from sidelight to headlight, first the left light came on, then the right light. Like there were 2 switching points, one after the other, but only one click on the switch.

thans for prompt answers, ive just remembered :( on the inside of fuse box lid is a diagram with what fuse goes where/ and the fuse rating, which is different to the handbook. /anyway it says no 8 fuse [ 10amp ] is for rear fog lights, also on my model there is 2 rear fog lights/ its the old/new/ orion-escort-model. [ it was ok anyway ]. the loom colours you gave me do look familar with back of switch/ i will bridge switch wires in morning , in case switch is faulty/ also will double check the relay with a meter.
and yes wires ,earths etc in boot are ok, there just isnt any power at the bulb holders concerned/ all else works ok. [ it was mot yesterday thats how i found out :( anyway he passed it. :)
the lights do work via the stalk on steeering column/ but the fog switch is on dash next to rear window heater switch.
anyway will check the loom wires with the colours you gave me.
and update tommorow. cheers, r.r. [ ps. lamp and holders a1. ]

well i now have rear fog lights working / :) .
downside is i dont really know how, so cant give advice for anyone else.
i put another replacement white relay in the board cus the ford h,book said it was that 1. still no good.
i know all was ok/ on wireing in the boot.
so had another look at switch , as i said it had power going to it / and power coming out of it. and the little light was on.
i even tested it with a meter , a1 ok/
so i left switch off and put a bit of wire across connector terminals/ and they came on
so reconnected switch and all is working ok/ .
so could be dodgy switch, time will tell.
or connection under dash somewhere ?.
and with fog lights on i removed relays 1 by 1 and lights never went off.
so as spark123 says i dont think it has 1, and like he says the switches do play up, even when they read out ok/ with a multimeter.
hope my reply is helpfull / thanks again for advice given. r.r. :)
