Having the front of the house rendered. I don't know the proper name for this silicone stuff.

We originally wanted a scraped k-rend (just due to a colour we liked). Had a number of quotes now but everyone has recommended different brands and also been told to use thin coat, not scraped texture.

I am basically asking is there some brands to avoid or even a golden product that I should be using?

Also worried about the waves (not totally smooth surface) is spraying a way to avoid this?

Thanks in advance

Every plasterer has different preferences.
And everyone will give different opinions.
what type of house is it?

Thanks. We put it down to preferences but just wanted to check if there is anything to know about from people that don't have a vested interest.

Detached. Brick built. Done some recent renovations and moved windows so decided to block the old openings up and have it rendered. The brick isn't a particularly nice one hence why we aren't bothered about it.

Have you decided what you are going for?
I am looking at rendering aswell....
Options are Silicon or Monocouche - with Monocouche being the cheaper option. I have been quoted £50m2 for Monocouche (including a sealant being applied after the Render has been applied). Apparently the Silicon lasts longer but Monocouche (at 25 years) is still good enough! Plus it can be easily painted over.

Hi, I am told monocouche is much more prone to cracking (not sure how true) so although I prefer the finish I think we are steering clear of that and going silicone. I am hoping silicone is much more maintenance free aswell. It is a minefield to be honest with all the options
