which sealant for upvc windows ?

hi guys

just installed a upvc window for my bathroom.....what type of sealant do you use to seal from the outside....i used some "door and frame sealer" mastic...went on well and sealed ok, however ive noticed that it doesnt give that rubbery effect as like with silicone sealant, in fact it rained overnight and i got this streak of white lines running down the side of the wall....im considering taking it out and sealing it with some white silicone sealant...should be ok ?????????or wont it...

Maybe a nice 'neutral Cure' silicone. Pay a bit extra for some decent stuff.
