Which shower pump ?

HI,

Getting desperate now

I've had shower pumps fitted under the bath for over 30yrs but over the last few years they haven't been lasting very long, the latest - a Salamander CT75+ - just a couple of months. The plumber who fitted that has walked away from the problem after 3½ weeks so I've had to get Salamander involved, & a surveyor was sent out last week. Meantime Salamander recommended a CT60BU, for a bath/shower combo (just a bar attached to the bath taps with a "pull plunger" to switch between the bath & shower. There's a hot water cylinder in a bedroom & cold water tank in the loft).

The surveyor has said the pump has to be by the hot water cylinder so will be extensive work to move it, going up via the loft. Plus he's said the CT60BU will be far too noisy for a bedroom & will be recommending an RP (haven't had his report yet to know which model) but that will mean the loo, bathroom sink & kitchen hot tap will also use the pump. I'm not keen on that.

Is there a model in the CT range that just the bath/shower would run off, that would be quiet ?

This one? with its own inbuilt pump, SR stands for Silent Running, gives up to 14LPM, sufficient for most.

You can also just use it to fill the bath.

It's not a shower per say, it's an attachment where you pull a plunger to use as a shower or leave to run a bath (or vice versa, can't remember).

I'm pretty much obliged.to go with a Salamander now - long story - using one of their approved plumbers.
Surely they do a suitable pump that's quiet ?!

Think the pumps been run dry? Maybe worth going smaller to reduce the water demand, ct50 looks like the smallest they do. Take it it's twin pump (hot and cold). 1.5 bar is still plenty if it's sited under the bath

The CT50 is no good for the bath/shower setup, is only suitable for showers, same as the CT75+ that's failed. And it can't be sited under the bath, it has to go by the hot water cylinder, in the airing cupboard, in a kid's bedroom. Going to be a mammoth task, going up into the loft.

The one Salamander told me to buy (budget) is, their surveyor says, too noisy for a bedroom. He wants me to get an RP. That'd mean everything (excluding kitchen cold tap) would go thru' the pump. Including the loo ! I don't want that, I want a quiet CT that's suitable for just the bath/shower. Maybe another, quieter CTnnBU ?
It is hot & cold feed so yeah, twin pump.

I have to use Salamander now for peace of mind.
It's a rental (hopefully for no more than a couple of years, once the tenants leave. Maybe sooner, fingers crossed). The surveyor is a Salamander approved plumber so by using them, with the warranty, it's straight over to them if there were a problem with it.

This has gone on over a month already, with the tenants not able to use the shower, & barely able to even use the bath. The plumber who fitted the failed one in September has just walked away after 3½ weeks. He just swapped the old one under the bath & that's no good. He obviously didn't know what he was doing. It HAS to be done properly now.

You're right but I'm being told it's not suitable for this set up, that's why it's burnt out after a couple of months (was originally fitted in July). It's intended more for just a shower as Johntheo5 said earlier.
