Which shower.

Can anyone tell me which type of shower I require? Manual mixer or thermostatic? It will be installed in a bathroom where the hot comes from a tank heated by a coal fire but the cold direct from the mains.

A thermostatic shower, with a dedicated cold supply taken from the cold storage tank that supply's the HW cylinder.

This will give you the required balanced hot and cold supply's.

I didn't want to run another pipe from the cold tank (some distance away).
Do thermostatic showers require the same pressure from both hot and cold supply? Is my only option to install a manual mixer with the existing pipework?

i dunno never had nothing to do with them

it was just a thought

man mixer would work but it's a pain getting the temp right
