Whirlpool soap dispenser not closing

I have a Whirlpool dishwasher and the second soap dispenser door does not open. I think it is the spring that is no longer working but and not able to figure out how to replace it. I took the door panel off but was not able to get to the back of the soap dispenser. Please advise on how to fix this problem. Thank you for your advise
