Trying to help a friend out who has given me the following information, please help if you can

Serial numbers :- 8586 154 15010 & 11 0429 011863
I have had this American style fridge freezer for about 6 years now and about 12mths ago the temperature indicators started to flash constantly but everything appeared to carry on working ok, but over the last week or so the alarm as started to go off, the problem would appear to be on the freezer side as there is no temperature displayed for the freezer but there is for the fridge. I do appear to be able to re-set it by putting it to stand by for at least 10 sec’s, then everything seems to be working other than the flashing temperature gauges. It seems to me that trouble is just around the corner so any thoughts/ advise would be appreciated.
