Hi I have just had an ideal logic Combi fitted and after posting earlier on here I would like to add the weather kit, now is this a diy job, or if not is it gas or electrician fitted. I used to think that as long as you didn’t touch the gas or flue it was okay but upon reading up on here it now seems that you aren’t allowed to do anything with the boiler.
Thanks

Gas - you're not allowed to remove the front cover of the boiler unless you're capable of carrying out the 26.9 checks upon completion. Only Gas Safe people can do this

Thanks for that reply, am I allowed to rough it out and leave the cable at the boiler for the gas man, reason is I will have to mount it on the other end of the house from the boiler so I hope you say I can fit the compensator and leave the connection up to him?

I thought that was the case if the cover was part of the combustion system e.g. was sealed to the boiler and the air was being drawn through the boiler. So the rule above would apply to some boilers and not others. Is that not the situation ?

Taking the front cover off a boiler can't be a blanket ban. Take for example a Vaillant Turbomax. The main cover makes no seal at all. Removing this cover allows access to the majority of components in the boiler. The combustion chamber has it's own separate cover, dividing it off from the rest of the boiler. So saying DIYers can't take the boiler's front cover off is not strictly accurate in all cases.

Correct.

This is not a Turbomax though is it.

Good spot. I was pointing out that muggles post wasn't completely accurate - QUOTE -
