I rewired a house, joists 5 x 2 (in old money) so carefull with 0.25 to 0.4 of span for holes etc.
Heating instalers on one of those grant thingy`s came in and notched on top, dirty great big notches too, joists knackered, what butchery, solder and flux all over cables too.
LABC got involved too.
I`ll let you know what happens.
We are all on alert for terrorists then we let cowboys in to sabotage houses.

GRRRRRR @ Plumbers. To be honest have you ever tried to push copper pipe through holes in joists ? As for the mess...well thats just being sloppy, it can also cause problems later on with flux inside the pipe causing blockages etc.

did they just notch the joists or did they notch them over your holes?

They notched them with a bloody vengace and right over the holes in quite a few places. NIGHTMARE

I believe the notch is 33mm deep as apposed to 16mm max allowed (,125 of 127mm (5")) on this one
