I'm researching the above system but cannot find anything like it in the UK. I'm looking for a system which will monitor areas of the house for leaks using sensors and automatically shut off the mains supply if a leak is detected. I can find several of these systems in the US but none in the UK. The systems in the states cost around $400 - $500 which I think is good value especially when installing from new.

Anyone know of any systems which work like this in the UK?

Should have put water! I'm looking to prevent water damage from a water leak and the resultant disruption. The systems I've researched in the US stop the main water supply as soon as water is detected at one of the sensors.

I'm looking for a similar system for the UK market.

Can the US model not be shipped in and any electrickery be modified for UK supply?

A guy near us invented and patented one which he installed in an appartment complex build, will try and gets his details.

I've had a look at the link to Wayscale. That's exactly what I was looking for. Have emailed company for pricing.

Also knew about SureStop which is a good idea but doesn't stop leaks. Allows easy switch off on mains but that's it.

Bringing the US model to the UK has several issues. First you'd have to find a transformer which could power it as the voltage is different. Secondly you'd have to source a NPT to BSP thread adaptor for the valve. Finally the US models are not CE rated or WRAS approved so using in the UK would be dodgy. Perfectly safe I'm sure but not passed the UK regulations.

lcgs, if you get details on the system which has been designed and installed near you that would be great.

Thanks for the replies.

As seco has posted really. These seem to be pretty good and can be set to individual requirements. I don't know what the prices are like though.

What i have found out though, after a quick search, is that these can reduce your buildings insurance costs which was a surprise! I may start looking at installing these as a matter of course on new installs.

The only other way round it would be to install a sump pump and float switch!
