Why does my kitchen waste keep blocking?

It frees up with a quick plunge but I find I need to do at least once a week.

If your wondering, it is propped on some wood blocks as it came loose and was leaking a while back.

Probably due to the waste pipe being clogged up and it doesn't take much for it to block. Fill the sink with boiling water and soap and let it go, do that a few times.

Alternatively get the pipework apart and inspect/clean out.

Do you use it like a waste disposal and flush food down it?
Do you do a lot of greasy cooking .?
Both clog sinks quickly , hot soapy water helps keep pipes clear .
After making tea I always empty the kettle down the sink , not only helps keep sink clear reduces scale in kettle to practically none .

We've had a waste disposal for years and never had a blockage to be fair. All food waste goes in it, one of the best things we've ever bought.

OP,
You dont show the whole of the unit plumbing but in terms of what you show:
Say I'd been sent for on a service call - first thing I would do would be to drop the basket waste, & strip & clean the pipework & compression fittings - I'd use new friction rings & new tapered rubber washers when re-assembling.

Correctly installed sink plumbing typically has no need for supporting blocks.
The waste hose needs to be pushed all the way over the spigot ribs, & secured with a jubilee clip. The waste hose should have entered the unit at high level just below the work top.

FWIW:
Disposals are frowned on in some parts of the UK. New York city NY had a ban on them until some years ago they are now allowed with certain conditions.
Disposals are very controversial in some parts of the US for the obvious reasons of their environmental & financial costs.

"No ones forcing you to have one" - Correct but that doesn't mean one has to accept a very poor option.

"when it goes down the waste disposal" doesn't mean Abracadabra that it disappears.
It means its on its way to cause excess biological water treatment, & eventually to destroy marine life & habitat if its discharged into rivers or sea waters.

1kg of disposal waste requires 12kg of water.
Sewage blockages are often due to waste particle sludge build-up capturing larger solids.
