Erm, thanks for the advice... I was using a brand new £13 50mm Purdy Sprig. I don't use rollers for glossing, period.
Which undercoat did you use? Wickes' own grey undercoat is far too "white"for the green gloss that I used. Nevertheless a quality paint would have required 2 top coats.
I am glad that your door worked out, as a professional I do not want to have to apply extra coats to get to a point where I begrudgingly walk away from a job thinking "erm, it still needs another 2 coats".
Dulux Trade would have cost about £5 more nutr would have saved me about £60/80 in labour (when you factor in time to remove door furniture etc).
sorry if my post seems acerbic, my ire is directed at Wickes rather than you.
