I am planning to take out a rear back door and widen it by 1/3 and put in a window. (Bricked up below).

I’ve had various people comment to me I “may” need buildings regs as it’s structural. Some say it will be fine take a photo of the new lintel etc?

Obviously don’t want to spend a fortune on expensive surveys etc.

What’s the best approach here?

Needs off the shelf lintel and building regs, no survey required. I'd plan it to salvage enough bricks from the window opening to close off the doorway. If you're DIYing it get rid of the soldier course - they're hard work.
