I need to cut a brass curtain pole and wanted to use my Dewalt mitre saw so I get a really neat straight cut.

It has the original TCT blade on it will it work or will it f*k the blade?

The pole is a 100% brass traditional style pole, its NOT plated steel etc

Cheers

It'll cut it... It won't do the blade any favours but, if you take it steady, you should be okay. I cut a big notch in an F-clamp by mistake, once, and I still use the blade.

It's only one cut - if it was me, I'd do it...

mine cuts through steel nails hidden in flooring sometimes, when I haven't seen them. I do cut quite slowly.

is it a brass pole or a brassed/brass colour/brass effect
is it magnetic if so wouldnt risk it

Don't do it. It will grab and make a complete mess of it. Use a hacksaw.

Why not use a pipe cutter - the adjustable type?
Mind you, put some masking tape on the line where you want to cut, and go round with a hacksaw then file.
John :)
