If a hatch hole is cut in my Victorian lath landing ceiling, is the whole landing ceiling likely to come down, making an incredibly horrible mess? (That's what I've been told.)
Can this be prevented?
(There's already an original hatch, but it's too small, and it's over the stairs!)
