Window handle spindle lengths

Measured the spindle length of the UPVC Espag window handle I was replacing as 45mm

Would the common 40mm spindle length for sale be OK to fit, or is there any way to check if it would work?
 
I should think it’s fine.

the spindle should reach the other side of the espagnolette mechanism….or at least go most of the way through.
 
Loosen your current handle by approx 5mm, and check the operation
