Hello. I have had a new window fitted where there wasn't one before. The builders have filled the cavity around the reveals with cavity closer. This stuff seems a bit to smooth to just plaster on top of with no extra keying. What is the normal way of plastering on top of the cavity closer? Thanks, M.

If it’s a raw reveal, it will be flush with the frame (or lower!) & you need to bring it inside the frame to give a satisfactory looking result. The best way to do this is stick 2 layers of plasterboard over the reveal & cavity closers with drywall adhesive; the base rather depends on the sill your fitting. Fix either an angle or stop bead on the outer edge (depends if your re-skimming the inner wall), put a stop bead against the window frame & use a Multifinish skim away between the 2; you should get a prefect finish like this even if you have no plastering experience!
