Hello

I have a made a pigs ear of this! Earlier I noticed a few bumps on this window board so I decided to sand them down and paint. I painted the first coat and the bumps showed through. So I decided to sand and scrape off all the paint and start again.......however I've made a mess of it.

Whats the best thing to do next? The fibres from the wood are showing.

Thanks

Just a thought, can I PVA the surface and then paint over it? Just thinking this would seal the wood so the fibres won't show through in the paint.

1. Throw away your PVA

2. That is MDF not wood

3. Get some MDF primer on there

4. Paint on some one-coat gloss (Crown Solo) over that. Job done.

5. Stop being so anally retentive about a few bumps in future! :D

Don't use PVA - it wiill be a recipe for disaster. Do as advised above.

It's probably not your fault, but why people allow builders to fit mdf windowsills is beyond me. They are bound to get wet somehow or other and it all ends in lumps and bumps and swollen bits.

(In 17th century Puritan's voice) MDF be the work of the devil., Shun it!

from a personall point of veiw i wouldnt use 1 coat.
once youve primed gentle sand down smoothe, maybe prime again? then undercoat then gloss.
