I have a UPVC window, when I close it and turn the handle in to the lock position it does not lock, and if you push the window it opens. Is this something I cna fix myself? I have tried a different handle but this did not work and oiling the parts did not work either. Any other suggestions?

with the window open,try operating the window handle and see if the rollers/bolts on the window move,if they dont then the mech is most likely faulty and will need unscrewing and replaceing,there not expensive.
if they do move then check on the frame to see if there are striker plates on there for the rollers/bolts to lock into,if not,they will need sourcing and replacing.

I've had to replace the mechanism on 3 windows. All were the Kenrick Sentrilock type and you can get them here:

It's an easy enough job if it's on a lower floor. Upper floor you will need a ladder to work from the outside. Once you have the handle off you'll see how it all fits together.
