Can someone please advise where is windows is generally placed and is it placed directly in the block or closer or should there be something it goes on.

A. Does the window sit on external wall
B. Does the window sit on cavity tray, but surly the cavity tray is not strong enough to fix into.
C. Does the window sit on internal wall
D. Or is it between them like half on external and half on tray.

Thanks

The window should be fitted on the external leaf, with the back of the window level with the back of the leaf.

There are a number of variables that determine the position of a frame in a reveal but roughly speaking, and taking the above pic as an example, you should set your frame back 75mm from the face of the brickwork.

The 75mm set-back was a FENSA Requirement from the Bldg Regs. Perhaps the Regs have changed?

How the frame is fixed also depends on a number of variables.

FWIW: the pic shows a cavity closer not a cavity tray.
