Hi,

I recently replaced the windows in my house however I never received any certificate or building regs so am now having to go through the council. I have only just noticed that there is no kitemark on the windows and that only some Windows have a British standard number in the spacer bar. I am now worried that they will not meet british standards because there is no kite mark. Any help and advice would be great.

Cheers

Who replaced them, you or a company?

You would normally only see a kitemark on Toughened Glass , and it would normally be a circle and should have a stamp of BS EN 12150 , ( Class 1 I beleive ). Can't recall ever seeing Kitemarks on our frames. As you say the spacer bar should be stamped with the manufacter of the sealed units name and license number ( yes you have to have a licence to manufacture sealed units! ). The frames however should have some form of identification on the actual profile...opena window sash , and somewhere within that area should be he profile manufacturer and a number.
Failing that go back to the place you got them from , they should be able to supply all this information.
