winxp no low free disk space

It could be your system restore. Remove all but the most recent one.
To remove all but the last SRP go to
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup -> select the drive -> OK -> click on More Options Tab -> then under the System Restore heading click on the Cleanup button -> Confirm that you want to remove all but the last point.
Reboot and see how much space you have recovered.
Post back and if it has left a lot of free space we can set your SR to only keep restore points for 30 days instead of the default 90 days. That way you will only use 33% of the space taken at the moment.
Another way to do it is reduce the disk space allocated to SR:

I had to do a factory reset about 4 months ago. Thought I'd lost everything until I realised , when I go to my computer/ C/ Documents and settings/HP Owner that all my old data is still there. Pictures, documents, etc etc.
What I need to know is, that as I'm running out of hdd space, If I copy all the docs, pics etc etc that I need over to My Documents, could I then delete the folder, C/documents and settings/ HP Owner ?

The old user account is defunct so yes you can delete it.
Why not buy an external drive, usb flash memory stick or new internal drive? Pretty cheap these days and you are better off having copies incase of failure.

Tried re-naming the folder before deleting it. Got a warning that I can't re-name this folder as windows is using it . Looks like I can delete loads of my stuff off it though. Might take a few hours but will free up space on my HDD. Cheers

Use MoveOnBoot;

Download and install, then drag the old folder to the box on MoveOnBoot and select remove.
reboot and it should be gone.
Used it myself when I put Win 7 onto a computer that had XP on but would not boot. It left the old system in a folder named as Windows.old and it was full of old folders, some I could remove and others it said they were in use, so MOB shifted the lot.

Thanks for the link Dave. I have downloaded this but it only gives me the option to move individual files, not folders. Looks like I'm back to deleting stuff I don't need manually
