wiper help

hi lads, got a problem with the wifes wipers on her 52 plate astra 1.6 8v club.

Front wipers when on intermittent stop at the top or middle of the screen

speed 1 the same

speed 2 they set correctly at the bottom of screen

any ideas ? i thought possible the stalk, relay or even the motor itself

The motor gets power all the way down to the bottom regardless where you have the switch. For some reason its not getting it, only in the fast speed. Motor gearbox/contacts inside must be worn away from constant use in the low speed. OK in the fast as its not used that often.

You could always tell herself to flick it into high before stopping!

Agreed, its the self park switch mechanism thats faulty here.....the wiper motor remains live after you have switched it off to allow the wipers to park. As the contacts run in a cover of grease its amazing that they work at all. Probably your best bet is an on line breakers such as the parts gateway if you can't get one locally.
