Hi all i want to cut the wire coming out of the tele socket, can i do so and not effect my internet and telephone please? The reason i want to cut it off is that i dont have to get trunking to cover it or chaise it into the wall.....if its not needed or for other tele sockets which i dont use then its easier ridding it.

can we assume that in the first pic the white cable to the right of the socket is the one you want to remove? if so then yes it can be removed. it appears that 3 of the 6 wires in the cable are connected to the terminals in the socket so snip them off one by one close to the terminals but dont cut the wires from the other cable or you will lose service

Telephone sockets are connected in a chain. Before you remove the wires from the backplate trace out to next socket (and subsequent ones). If you are sure that next sockets are not used now or in future then disconnect from the IDC points on the backplate.
