Wire free door chime with 2 bell pushes?

May be worth resetting the chimes etc, but I'm curious as to how/why everything stopped.

I had actually been talking to a very nice lady at Lloytron.
The back door bell now works and could not explain why it hadn't.
The front door bell is dead as a do do and is being replaced. I think it is the battery but Lloytron say it can't be as they are supplied with the battery guaranteed for at least one year and with a tag on it to stop it losing anything before use.
The plug-in receiver works.
The portable receiver needed replacement batteries (originals supplied by the fitter) and works with new batteries.
